About Amish Experience/ Amish Tours/ Magic Lantern Shows

An Officially Designated Heritage Tour Certainly, visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish, an experience many hope for but invariably are unable to realize. Thus, have we called the extraordinary opportunity to visit with our Amish neighbors the V.I.P. (Visit-In-Person) Tour. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This tour is limited to 14 people to provide maximum personal contact as we visit the Amish on the farm, at work, and at home. Stop 1: Amish Farm at Milking Time When we arrive at the farm, we enter the barn to observe the actual milking process. You may be surprised to learn that the Amish do not milk cows by hand. You will also discover how milk is kept cold in the bulk tank with "Amish electricity." Stop 2: Amish "Cottage Industryā€¯ With the price and scarcity of farmland, many Amish have started their own small enterprises, making everything from gazebos and furniture to farm equipment and quilts. Our visit may be to a carriage maker, goat cheese artisan, a canning kitchen, or a wooden toy maker, among others. Stop 3: Visit with an Amish Family To conclude our evening, we travel scenic backroads to a distant farm in the countryside. As we step inside the house, we find that friendly conversation awaits as we sit, chat, and visit the way the Amish do, talking informally without TVs, IPhones or computers. It comes as no surprise that strangers soon become friends. Times & Prices Departs Monday - Saturday from April 7 through October, plus November Saturdays at 5:00PM. Duration is about 3 hours, so we recommend eating before the tour. Snacks and drinks are permitted on the shuttle. Guests are required to check in and receive their tickets at the Amish Experience Theater Box Office 20 minutes prior to departure. Please dress respectfully. Tickets cost $59.95 per adult, $35.95 per child (ages 6-16). Tickets are not sold to children under six years of age. Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. Click below and then select the desired date on the calendar to check availability. If tour shows as "sold out," please call 717-768-8400, ext.210 to determine current availability. If you wish, you can enjoy a meal BEFORE your tour at the adjacent Plain & Fancy Farm Dining Room, and will have the option to purchase meal vouchers when you book your tour online. The restaurant will not be open after your VIP Tour, but there are other restaurants open later in the evening over on Route 30. NOTE: TICKETS FOR 2016 WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE IN EARLY JANUARY.
