Amish Experience / Amish Country Tours

Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania

Overview

Amish Country Tours (Dutchland Tours, Inc.) is the only company with certified guides providing tours in Lancaster County for over 50 years. The Amish Experience is located on the property of Plain & Fancy Farm, Lancaster's original family-style restaurant, on Route 340, a non-commercial AAA designated Scenic Cultural Byway, surrounded by Amish farms.

Our goal is for visitors to see the Amish not as saints or curiosities, but as our neighbors, as "real people." Our certified guides make every tour both educational and entertaining, respectful and insightful. Whenever possible, our farmland tours include a stop at an Amish property, perhaps a bake shop, roadside stand, or quilt shop on a farm, so that visitors can interact with the Amish. Combined with the acclaimed "Jacob's Choice" in the Amish Experience Theater, and the Amish Country Homestead & Schoolroom, the only Amish house tour in Lancaster County designated a "Heritage Site," this SuperSaver package is the ideal overview of Amish culture for visitors. Tours are always guided, usually on a 14-passenger mini-bus.

In addition, due to great demand, we bring back the sold out exclusive WITNESS Movie Covered Bridge Tour Wednesdays and Saturdays, May thru October, stopping at the Amish farm where filming took place. The main set location, the Summer Kitchen, and upper barn are now open to visitors.

Our exclusive Amish Visit-In-Person Tours, evenings June 4 thru October, afford visitors the rare opportunity to meet and talk personally with Amish at work and at home. This is also the first and only tour to be designated a "Heritage Tour" by Lancaster County.
